Ed Thiessen, CFP®, CAP®, LUTCF

Financial Advisor

With a servant’s heart and a steady focus, as a fiduciary, Ed helps guide clients to the financial and retirement futures they’ve envisioned for themselves. By understanding their goals, dreams, priorities — and the charitable causes important to them — he helps craft plans designed to last.

After more than 40 years personally serving clients while also supporting more than 1,000 agents, brokers and advisors as a wholesaler, Ed now works solely with his own clients. His decades of experience as a wholesaler have kept him up to date on the latest planning, insurance and investment information and trends. He reviews his clients’ needs with a broad understanding of the options available.

Ed got his start in the insurance business in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1979, and he’s added additional licenses and certifications over the years, including the Series 7, 63, 65 and 24 securities exams. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and holds the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) and Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF) designations.

A graduate of Corn Bible Academy in Corn, Oklahoma, Ed attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma, and Grace College of the Bible in Omaha, Nebraska, as a music major pursuing music and youth ministry. Today, Ed is active in the music ministry of his church, singing in the chapel choir and playing guitar to accompany soloists and small groups. He enjoys composing music and writing poetry in his spare time.

He and his wife, Janet, Southwest Financial Advisory Group’s Director of Operations, have been married for more than 44 years. They have two grown children, son Kyle and daughter Krysten, and five grandchildren. An Oklahoma native, Ed has lived in Edmond for more than 15 years.

Ed and Janet love to travel, including recent trips to Paris, Positano, Prague and southern France. They also enjoy visiting Cabo San Lucas and taking the occasional cruise, as well as traveling to visit their children and grandchildren.
